Each year more than 500 WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act) youth from across San Bernardino County attend the county's Workforce Development Board's Y-4 Youth Conference to network, job hunt, and be inspired. Loma Linda University hosted this year's conference on March 16th at the Drayson Center. We always look forward to taking our HOT youth to this conference and gathered a group of seven young people who were eager to attend.
The conference provides career guidance, inspirational stories, educational resources, and local work opportunities through a job fair. Youth are encouraged to "dress their best" and be prepared to engage with potential employers, educational institutions, and public agencies. The motivational speakers are always dynamic and youth leave feeling pumped up and ready to face their futures. This year's speakers included Arel Moodie and Yvonne Williams, as well as, workshop presenters from Medical Assistant and CNA programs, San Manuel Gateway College, pharmacy tech, surgical tech and more.
This year's take away message was "I can. I will. I did."
