Students from Corona and Eleanor Roosevelt High School celebrate the completion of their 40 hour LIFE Internship.

Learning Inspired Field Experience (LIFE) Program: An internship program developed by the IHPC to provide students with a structured on-site learning experience in healthcare. The program requires students to complete 60 to 80 hours of supervised exposure to the day-to-day operations, procedures, and patient care at a partner medical facility. Students receive 8 hours of pre-training on basic patient privacy, safety, and worksite professionalism prior to beginning the internship. Following the internship:

  • 93% of LIFE students felt strongly that the program better prepared them to enter the world of work.

  • 95% of LIFE students surveyed strongly agreed that the field experience made them want to further pursue a career in the health professions.

“The LIFE Program was a major influence on my career, major, and life decisions. By the way, this program was a major topic for my college essays and I wanted to let you know that I will attend UCLA (PreMed) this fall!”
